ADOLESCENCE

Adolescence is the first significant phase of life, we all step into, when our mind and body experience and undergo changes we are not conversant of. Feeling of anger, disgust, happiness, joy, anxiety are the ones we keep experiencing, but the feelings which strike us when we step into adolescence are so overpowering that we feel our mind being just swept away with them. For a moment we feel stunned, 'Oh! what's this feeling. I never experienced these thoughts before'. We tend to feel overpowered by the thoughts and feel losing self control. Suddenly our thoughts get more oriented for Love, Passion, Attraction, Infatuation, Obsession and Fascination against the opposite sex.

Well, these thoughts are absolutely normal.

Our desire to know and develop a relation with someone we feel fascinated because of his / her physical looks or any other attribute, without caring about each others' age / social ties etc, is so intense and growing with every moment that at heart we feel totally succumbed to react and take some action to fulfill our desire. The longer the desire persists, the higher our imagination goes in dreams / vague expectations. We start dwelling in a world of fantasy. We tend to move away from our family members. Emotions travel on a roller coaster. We also feel that something is wrong with our normal ability to think realistically. The other person we feel fixated on, can just be anyone, be him or her a star / a celebrity / a person we come across everyday / a person we came across sometime back.

How to control these highly intense feelings ? Does one start moving in a direction to fulfill your desire ? OR does one try to shun the fixed thoughts which haunt you day and night.

Well, we all grow and experience these feelings in our lives. No formulae or catch can give you a perfect answer. The solution is subjective for every individual. You can just be wary of few points while you move into adolescence and experience such feelings of love and infatuation heavily.

1. Do not act or react without thinking of its consequences.
2. Share your feelings with someone whom you feel mature and can talk with open heart.
3. Give time for feelings to settle down. No feeling whether happiness or sorrow remains forever. All feelings diminish with time.
4. Try to keep your self busy with something worth doing.
5. Give yourself a break!
6. Do not push yourself into the sea of loneliness.

You are a wonderful person capable of doing the best, the best way, master of your mind, body and soul!
